For those interested in authoring and developing a liveProject, the first step is writing a proposal. Download our proposal form and tell us about your idea.

When you’re done, email your proposal to [email protected]. A Manning editor will review your submission and get back to you as soon as possible. If you’d like to discuss your idea before submitting a proposal, let us know at the same address.

We’ll get back to you after we have had a chance to review your proposal. Be prepared to revise your proposal several times during initial discussions! Once we have a solid plan, we’ll discuss the terms of a publishing agreement.

Xavier Amatriain (PhD) is co-founder/CTO of Curai, a startup using AI to scale the world’s best healthcare to everyone. Prior to this, he was VP of Engineering at Quora, and Research/Engineering Director at Netflix, where he led the team building the famous Netflix recommendation algorithms. Before going into leadership positions in industry, Xavier was a researcher in both academia and industry as well as a lecturer in universities in the US and Europe. With over 50 publications and 5k citations in different areas, Xavier is best known for his work on recommender systems, but his work in AI expands to areas like Healthcare, NLP, or music.

Leonard Apeltsin

of Discovering Disease Outbreaks from News Headlines

Leonard Apeltsin is a co-founder of Primer AI, a startup that develops advanced technology to analyze terabytes of unstructured text data. Leonard helped expand the Primer AI team from four employees to over 80. His PhD research on bioinformatics required analyzing millions of sequenced DNA patterns to uncover genetic links in deadly diseases. It was this research that led him to realize that his skills were transferable to other areas of analysis; and Leonard's data science consultancy was born. Leonard is currently a research fellow at the Berkeley Institute for Data Science.

Olga Petrova

of Semi-Supervised Deep Learning for Melanoma Detection

Olga Petrova is a machine learning engineer at Scaleway, a French cloud provider, where her focus lies on deep learning R&D. Previously, she has worked as a researcher in theoretical physics, looking into the applications of artificial intelligence to quantum systems. Olga has a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.S. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She enjoys blogging about the latest advancements in AI.
