Miscellaneous FAQs

What happened to my Manning account?

Manning removed user accounts from the web store in April 2006. We have tried to reduce the amount of steps necessary to make a purchase on our store. Receipts and ebook downloads are all now delivered in emails (or via URLs sent in emails). If you are expecting an email from our web store and don't receive it, your mail program may have filtered it out as spam. Check your spam mailbox and add our support@manning.com mailing address to your address book to prevent future spam filtering.

I purchased my print book from Amazon (or elsewhere) Can I get a free copy of the ebook?

Yes! Inside the front cover of every print book, you will find a insert explaining how to get your free ebook. Simply open the insert and register the book by following the instructions printed inside. Should you have any problems retrieving your ebook, please email support @ manning.com for help.

I purchased an eBook from manning.com. Can I "upgrade" to the print version?

Yes! The cost to upgrade from an eBook to a pBook is only $12 + shipping. Simply write to support with your order number if you still have it. If not, no problem: just tell us which email address you used to purchase the eBook and we will send you an upgrade code. Upgrades are only available to original customers who purchased the eBook at manning.com, and cannot be combined with discount offers.

My country is not listed on your website order form. How can I purchase an ebook? How can I purchase a paper book?

We unfortunately have been experiencing a lot of online fraud and have had to cut back on the countries we serve. We hope to open up online shopping to more countries again in the future but need to find a better fraud protection solution before we can do that. Hopefully you can still buy our print edition books from a local bookseller. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Where can I report errors that I read in your books?

Each of our books has an individual page on our website. You can navigate to that page from the Manning catalog. Once on the books page please look in the left hand column for a link to the books Errata where you read about known errors in the books (although we hope they are few and far between). If you discover an error not listed in the Errata, please post the errata information to the Book's Author Online forum (see question below).

Where can I post questions I have about the book?

We host an author online forum for most of our books to post questions, errata reports by customers, and comments. You can also find the Author Online forum for a particular book by going to the book's web page (see the back cover of your book for URL) and looking for the "Author Online" link in the left hand column.

What does an "out of stock" book mean?

Some of our titles are listed along with the retail price but marked "out of stock". Out of stock titles are temporarily unavailable for purchase but Manning plans on printing more copies soon. We recommend that you check the web page from time to time to see when the book is back in stock. Alternatively, you may send an email to Manning Customer Service to ask about the book's anticipated availability date. Unfortunately for many reprints, we don't know exactly when a book will be scheduled for another printing but we will try to give you our best estimate.

What does an "out of print" book mean?

Some of our titles are listed along with the retail price but marked "out of print". Out of print titles are no longer being printed as a "hard copy" by Manning. We no longer produce or sell these books as a physical printed book. Some out of print titles are still available as ebooks. Unfortunately if you need a physical book, you'll need to search for used book sellers who may be carrying used copies of the book.
